Child Safety Standards
Our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation, and how to report a concern.
MarriageEmporium is a marriage-oriented platform for adults. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (“CSAE”) in any form, on any part of the Services — the website at www.marriageemporium.com and the Marriage Emporium mobile apps. This page sets out what we prohibit, how we keep minors off the platform, how anyone can report a concern, and what we do when they do. It applies alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Then tell us: report the profile in the app, or email customerservices@marriageemporium.com with “Child Safety” in the subject line. Reports about the safety of a minor are handled ahead of every other kind of report.
1. An Adults-Only Service
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use any part of the Services. We do not offer any product, feature, or content directed at children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to hold an account, appear in a profile, or take part in a conversation. Every member represents that they are an adult when they register, and misrepresenting your age is a breach of our Terms of Service that ends your membership.
2. What We Prohibit
The following conduct is forbidden everywhere on the Services — in profiles, photographs, voice notes, messages, meeting arrangements, and any other content or communication — and we treat any instance of it as a matter for removal, permanent termination, and referral to the authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material (“CSAM”). Creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, describing, or linking to any imagery or other material that depicts a minor in a sexual manner, whether real, edited, or generated.
- Sexualization of minors. Any content or communication that presents a person under 18 as an object of sexual interest, including otherwise innocent imagery paired with sexual comments, or any profile that claims or implies a minor is available for marriage or a relationship.
- Grooming. Attempting to build a relationship with a minor, on or off the platform, in order to sexually exploit or abuse them, including any attempt to move a minor to a private channel or to arrange a meeting.
- Sextortion. Threatening or blackmailing a minor, or any person, using real or alleged intimate imagery.
- Trafficking and forced or child marriage. Using the Services to arrange, advertise, solicit, or facilitate the marriage, transport, sale, or sexual exploitation of a minor, or any marriage in which a party has not given free and informed adult consent.
- Seeking access to minors. Any request, offer, or statement of intent to obtain contact with, or sexual access to, a child, including through another member or their family.
These prohibitions apply whether or not the conduct is a crime where the member is located, and they apply to attempts as well as to completed acts.
3. How We Keep Minors Off the Platform
- Age gate at registration. A date of birth is required to open an account, and the registration is refused, not merely flagged, if it shows an age under 18. The date of birth is kept for as long as the account exists so that the age requirement can be re-checked.
- Identity verification. Members may complete identity verification, which may involve a government-issued identification document and a liveness check, and verified status is shown to other members. We withhold or revoke verified status from any account whose identity or age is in doubt.
- Automated screening of new profiles. Every saved profile is scored for signals of fraud, coercion, or intent that is not a genuine adult marriage, and high-risk profiles are placed in front of a human moderator before any action is taken. Automated tools never punish a member on their own; a person decides.
- Private by default. Photo albums are shown only to members the owner has approved, conversations exist only inside the platform, and members are reminded not to move to private channels or to send money to anyone they meet here.
- No under-18 audience anywhere. The mobile apps are rated for adults only in every store and are never marketed to, or made available for, a younger audience.
4. How to Report a Concern
Anyone can report a child safety concern, whether or not they are a member, and a report can be made about any profile, photograph, voice note, message, or member.
- In the app or on the website. Open the profile and choose Report. Select Underage or prohibited as the reason and add anything that will help us act. Reports are confidential: the person reported is never told who reported them.
- Block. You can block any member from their profile or from a conversation. A blocked member cannot see you, contact you, or find you again. Blocking does not replace a report — please do both, so that we can act for everyone else too.
- After a meeting. After every meeting arranged through the platform, we ask whether you felt safe. Answering that you did not files a confidential report with our safety team without any further steps on your part.
- By email. Write to customerservices@marriageemporium.com with “Child Safety” in the subject line. This is the route for anyone who is not a member, including parents, guardians, and the authorities.
5. What Happens When You Report
Reports concerning a minor are reviewed first, by a person, and ahead of every other category of report. When we find that a report is substantiated we:
- remove the content and suspend the account immediately, pending a decision, so that nothing further can happen while we review;
- permanently terminate the account of any member who created, shared, requested, or solicited CSAM, or who attempted to groom, exploit, or gain access to a minor, and refuse any future account we can identify as belonging to the same person;
- preserve the relevant content, account details, and communications so that they are available to the authorities, rather than deleting them;
- report the matter to the authorities as described in Section 6; and
- close any account we find to belong to a person under 18 and delete the personal information we hold about them, as our Privacy Policy requires.
We do not notify the person reported of the identity of the reporter, and we do not warn a member before reporting them to the authorities where doing so could obstruct an investigation.
6. Reporting to Authorities and Legal Compliance
MarriageEmporium complies with all applicable child protection laws in every jurisdiction where the Services are available. In particular:
- As a United States provider we report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and we preserve the reported material and related account data for the period that law requires.
- Where the conduct or the people involved are outside the United States, we report to the competent national or regional authority, either directly or through NCMEC’s international referral network, and we honour lawful requests from law enforcement anywhere in the world.
- We cooperate with law enforcement investigations, respond to valid legal process, and may disclose information to protect a child from harm in the circumstances described in our Privacy Policy.
- We review these standards, and the processes behind them, at least annually and whenever the law or the platform changes.
7. Child Safety Point of Contact
Our designated child safety contact is responsible for these standards and is able to speak to our CSAE prevention practices with the authorities, app stores, and child-protection organisations:
Email: customerservices@marriageemporium.com (please include “Child Safety” in the subject line)
Law enforcement and child-protection agencies may use the same address; messages marked as coming from an agency are escalated on receipt.
